Our Furikake blend adds the perfect amount of sweet and salty umami to transform a humble bowl of rice into a symphony of flavors! Topped with a fried Furikake egg as the metaphorical cherry on top for quick, easy, delicious bowl of food that can be enjoyed any time of day!

Ingredients

1 cup short grain Japanese rice

1/2 tsp kosher salt

1 Tbs unsalted butter

Spicewalla Furikake

1 tsp olive oil

1 large egg

Preparation

  1. Place the rice in a mixing bowl and cover with water, gently stir the rice with your hand to release the starches and drain. Repeat 2 more times.
  2. In a pot, add the rinsed rice, 1 and 1/2 cups of water and kosher salt. Place the pot over medium-high heat and bring to a boil, stirring occasionally.
  3. Once boiling, cover with a tight-fitting lid and reduce the heat to low. Cook, undisturbed, for 15 minutes.
  4. Remove the pan from the heat and set aside for another 15 minutes without removing the lid then fluff the rice with a fork and add the butter. Stir to combine. 
  5. In a small non-stick pan over medium heat, add the olive oil then crack the egg into the pan.
  6. Fry the egg until the edges are crispy and the whites are just set - about 4 minutes. 
  7. Sprinkle a generous pinch of Furikake over the egg just before removing it from the pan. 
  8. Spoon the rice into a bowl and top with the fried egg. Enjoy!
