Spicewalla Poutine Spicewalla Poutine

Spicewalla Poutine

Originally a popular bar food in 1950's French Quebec, we've turned this poutine up a couple notches. French fries + home made gravy + cheese curds = good, and that's just science. Now add a healthy pinch of our fresh, slightly-spicy French Fry Seasoning, and, well, bon appetit!

Ingredients

3 Tbsp butter
¼ cup all purpose flour
1 cup beef broth
½ cup chicken broth
Kosher salt to taste
Spicewalla Black Pepper to taste
1 pound french fries – deep fried, baked or air fried (we bought frozen and air fried them)
1 cup white cheddar cheese curds
Spicewalla French Fry Seasoning

Preparation

  1. In a small sauce pot over medium heat, melt the butter until it starts to bubble. Add the all purpose flour and whisk together. Continue to cook, whisking constantly until the mixture is boiling and turns a dark golden brown color.
  2. Slowly add the beef and chicken broth while whisking and bring to a simmer until thickened but pourable. Add more broth if needed. Taste and add salt and pepper to your liking.
  3. Place the freshly cooked french fries in a mixing bowl. Season with salt. Add about ½ cup of the gravy and half of the cheese curds, toss to coat the fries.
  4. Place the fries on a serving plate, drizzle with a little more gravy and top with the rest of the cheese curds. Finish with a few heavy pinches of the French Fry Seasoning and serve immediately.
  5. Enjoy!
