Sweet & Salty Fire Crackers w French Fry Seasoning Salt

Need a quick snack that's as equally simple as it is delicious?....enter the Fire Cracker. Also known as Alabama Fire Crackers, these crave-worthy, flavorful crackers are a common Southern snack found at many gatherings. For our recipe, we coated mini saltines in our perfectly sweet, salty, zesty French Fry Seasoning Salt that are crispy and delicious with no baking required! -- but you don't have to disclose that part, it'll be our secret. We used mini saltines in this recipe because they're so darn cute and the perfect bite-size but feel free to substitute regular sized saltines or oyster crackers. You might want to make a double batch because these go quick!

Ingredients

1 (11 oz) box of mini saltine crackers

3/4 cup vegetable or canola oil

4 Tbs French Fry Seasoning Salt

Preparation

  1. In a large mixing bowl, add all of the mini saltines.
  2. In a separate small mixing bowl combine the oil and the French Fry Seasoning Salt, stir together well until fully combined.
  3. Pour the oil and spice mixture into the bowl with the saltines.
  4. Stir very well, being sure to scrape to bottom of the bowl to evenly distribute the oil mixture.
  5. Continue to stir well every 5 minutes for 20 minutes until all of the saltines are evenly coated and the oil is starting to absorb.
  6. Transfer the crackers to an airtight container or resealable bag. For best results: let sit overnight before eating.
  7. Enjoy!

  • Za’atar makes great firecrackers. Sometimes I use oyster crackers when I can’t find the small saltines
